The eternal debate that acting is or is not art often hinges on the commercial aspect of the project, and even in that context it is hard to define.
If one is to qualify acting as an art based on whether or not the artist is to be paid, then the same would hold true for a painter or sculptor who sells their work. Just because you are being paid to act does not preclude you from being an artist.
Actors are artists, but only when the creative skills they draw upon reflect the actor's unique interpretation. Acting on a theater stage can be defined as art, whereas acting in a television commercial would probably not meet the requirements.
Actors need a measure of autonomy in order to express what they feel, and if they do not have this "artistic" freedom, it would be hard to argue they are artists.
The IAD supports actor artists who take a written work and mold it to their own interpretation.
IAD Fine Art Shows can include a variety of acting genres mixed with other artistic disciplines.
It's important to define your focus though, so you can better attract the correct artists and well matched sponsors and buyers.
Good artists are busy, which means you have to contact them well in advance if you'd like them to grace your show. Sponsors are selective, which means they need to feel comfortable their brand is represented properly. And Buyers, well we all know how challenging they can be too.
Choosing a show location is also critically important. The space needs to reflect the quality of art.
If you expect to attract a BUYING CROWD you need to offer them something exciting and exclusive. There are many run-of-the-mill "Art Shows" that "water down" the market by providing mostly generic offerings and lackluster artists.
IAD Shows are different.
We promote to not only local buyers, but also to an international following, which means our standards reflect a global perspective and high level of quality. When an artist exhibits at one of our local shows, they have been vetted very carefully. The artist has also chosen only their best works to showcase because they know their work will be seen globally.
Saying that, the IAD is also a firm believer in helping YOUTH and new artists further their skills.
We not only promote new artists through our online community and networks, we provide BURSURIES so young artists can be inspired to grow and learn.
At an IAD Show buyers see not only the best art in the region from the BEST Fine Artists, but also the Best Art of New and Upcoming Artists.
It is in these new artists where forward thinking purchases can be made by art investors who have the experience and clarity to recognize a future star.
